A Heritage of Timeless Elegance
The Tuttabankem name was acquired in 1974 for just £50, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey that has spanned more than five decades. From its earliest years, Tuttabankem became known for creating beautifully crafted nightwear, supplying exclusive boutiques and luxury stores around the world with exquisite cotton and silk collections.
Built on a reputation for exceptional quality and enduring style, our designs have always celebrated the beauty of natural fabrics, thoughtful craftsmanship and timeless silhouettes. From our signature pure cotton lawn nightdresses adorned with delicate Nottingham and Austrian cotton lace to flowing printed kaftans and sumptuous silk velvet occasion pieces, every collection has been created with comfort, elegance and longevity in mind.
As fashions evolved, so did we. In 2000, Tuttabankem embraced a new chapter by bringing our collections directly to customers through mail order. The warmth and loyalty of our customers inspired us to focus on this more personal way of connecting, allowing generations of women to discover the effortless style and quality that have become synonymous with our name.
Today, I am honoured to continue that legacy as the second generation to lead our family business.
My greatest source of inspiration has always been my parents, Richard and Julia Hamnett, whose lifelong passion for art, textiles and craftsmanship profoundly shaped my appreciation of beautiful design. From an early age, I accompanied them on buying trips throughout Europe, where I discovered the colours, textures and artisan traditions that continue to influence every collection we curate today.
Those early experiences taught me that true luxury is never about following trends. It is about creating clothing that feels beautiful to wear, is thoughtfully made and becomes part of life's most treasured moments.
From our studio in Leicestershire, we continue to curate collections that honour our heritage while embracing a relaxed, contemporary elegance. Inspired by Mediterranean escapes, English gardens and effortless living, our pieces are designed for women who appreciate quality, comfort and timeless style over fleeting fashion.
As an independent family business, every order is prepared with care, and every customer is genuinely valued. We are privileged to continue a story that began over fifty years ago and are grateful to everyone who has chosen to become part of it.
